Mad Men Style: Joan?s Costume Secrets

And there it is: the outfit that caused us to gasp out loud. That is, of course, the fur that Roger gave her back in 1954; the one that caused her to coo, "When I wear it, I'll always remember the night I got it." Well, fuck you, Roger Sterling. That's exactly what this outfit is saying. "You ruined what we had by letting me do this, so I'm ruining what you gave me." We'd be surprised if she ever wore it again. It's one of those beautiful costuming moments that takes a sad, horrifying scene and makes it even more so once you realize what she's wearing.

SecureIT

The vast majority of those who rely on SecureIT ($1.95/month for three licenses) for antivirus protection don't necessarily know they're using it. Most of the company's installations are handled by ISP partners; less than two percent of users purchase the product directly. In addition to protection against viruses and other malware, the product offers a firewall and phishing protection. However, the only thing it does really well is keep malware from infesting a clean system.

Managed Installation
Installation is straightforward, but if it seems too difficult you can have the company's tech support experts manage the process for you. For $29.95 extra, they'll clear out any conflicting software, install the product, and run a scan for active malware. I don't know how many people would choose to pay more than a year's subscription price just to get security software installed. And if manual malware cleanup is required to get the product installed, that's a separate fee.

The product installed correctly on most of my malware-infested systems. Problems on one test system went away after I uninstalled and reinstalled the product. SecureIT would not install on a test system that can only run in Safe Mode due to malware. Many vendors offer an online scanner, a no-install cleanup tool, or a bootable cleanup disk; not SecureIT. My contact at the company confirmed that the product won't install in this situation, noting that SecureIT "is not designed to be a simple clean-up utility, but rather a long-term preventative maintenance application."

On another test system the SecureIT installation finished, but the product didn't run correctly due to a problem with some Visual Basic support files. Worse, this same problem balked the uninstall routine, so uninstalling and reinstalling wasn't an option. SecureIT simply didn't do the job on those two test systems.

Very Poor Malware Cleanup
Even when it did install and run properly, SecureIT did a poor job of cleaning up malware-infested systems. It only detected 58 percent of the threats, and its malware removal score of 3.6 of ten possible points reflects the fact that it left behind tons of malware traces for those threats it did detect. Quite a few were still running after SecureIT's alleged removal. Also, in several cases it detected and removed a malware installation file without doing anything about the active threat.

SecureIT performed especially poorly against rootkit samples. It detected 60 percent of them, but left the rootkit technology actively running for more than half of those it detected. ZoneAlarm Antivirus + Firewall 2012 ($59.95 direct for three licenses, 3 stars) detected all of these same threats and scored 8.2. When tested with my previous set of samples, Norton AntiVirus 2012 ($39.99 direct, 4.5 stars) detected 100 percent and scored 8.9 points.

For an explanation of how I test malware removal and derive these scores, see How We Test Malware Removal.

Related Story

The most surprising thing about these test results is that SecureIT uses the BitDefender engine, and Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2012 ($39.95 direct for three licenses, 4 stars) was much more effective in testing. My contacts at BitDefender took a look at the product and concluded that while all the necessary components are present, the routines for disinfection just don't get called.

Just William's Luck: Are You My Mother? - Alison Bechdel

'Do you love me?'

Alison Bechdel's Fun Home is often lauded as one of the best graphic novels of recent years. Having missed the boat first time around I was prompted to give it a read when I got wind of the publication of a new book. In Fun Home Bechdel tells the story of growing up in the family's funeral home business and focuses on her father who could be reserved and wrapped up in his creativity one moment, aggressive and cold the next. After his untimely death Bechdel discovers that he had been a closeted homosexual who had slept with men and been in trouble with the law. At the same time she deals with her own burgeoning homosexuality. The book is almost like a family scrapbook and avoids a strict linear narrative opting instead for something far more complex and satisfying. It's a fabulous book and well worth reading if you haven't already in preparation for her latest graphic memoir.

It's useful to have the context because, as you can guess from the title this new book focuses on Bechdel's mother and that also includes the impact of the publication of Fun Home on both her and Bechdel. This book also rather brilliantly is about the writing of itself, Bechdel struggles with her attempts to write the opening section, so that the opening section becomes about her struggle to write it. This meta-textuality is common now in fiction but less so in graphic work and I found it not only entertaining but also far better suited to this medium. I gave HHhH a hard time for this kind of authorial commentary at the beginning of this month, mainly because it was so repetitive and irritating; reading this book shortly afterwards vindicated my thoughts as it showed the same game could be played (to greater effect) in just a few clever panels.

Now, I would have to write a lengthy post to really do justice to this book's complexity. Bechdel aims to get under the skin of her relationship with her mother, in fact of all her relationships, and we follow her long conversations with her, her therapy sessions and her wide reading around the subject of the relations between parent and child. This leads her to the work of psychoanalyst Donald Winnicot who pioneered the theories of the true self and false self (familiar to Bechdel already through the two sides she saw in her father) and the transitional object - that item of comfort like a teddy bear or blanket with which a child (or indeed adult) can form an important bond to substitute for that with their mother. The book is fascinating for this aspect alone, providing a wonderful summary of his ideas, theories and life but also looks wider than that as Bechdel mines her past for clues to explain not only her relationship with her mother but the series of relationships she goes through with various girlfriends.

Photographs, old letters and journals, even a very specific cartoon from Dr Seuss are all used as evidence and the non-linear structure again provides an amazingly satisfying reading experience. In fact for an author who claims to have struggled with the writing and structure of the book it is a deceptively accomplished piece. The sheer volume of what she is able to include is staggering. We learn about her, her mother, her girlfriends, her writing process, Winnicot, psychoanalysis, listening, love and acceptance. And that's before we mention the artwork.

Even the pages that are made up of standard panels are varied in their appearance and design but every now and then Bechdel opens up a double page spread into something else entirely. The three pages I've reproduced here give you an idea of what I mean, and how a shift in perspective is not just a huge visual treat but an opportunity for Bechdel to do something interesting with content too. The book also has a cumulative pleasure. Not only do we sense Bechdel getting closer to some kind of understanding and resolution (and therefore something like happiness) but we too benefit from her obvious intelligence and erudition. As I worked my way through the book I felt like I was being treated on so many levels; it just works harder than most 'graphic novels' so that as I finished the last page I was glad I'm no artist myself - I'm sure I would have felt very lazy indeed. Together, both books provide an intimate look at Bechdel's intriguing family, so different to our own and yet from which we could all probably learn something. I heartily recommend both.

How To Circumvent Estate Tax | FINANCE-DEBT RELIEF

Estate planning is a very important financial undertaking you should complete no matter how much money you may have. The process of completing this undertaking will provide your family with additional security and peace of mind once you are gone. You can also take certain steps to reduce the amount of estate tax that will be owed upon your death to increase the benefits your family receives as a result of your financial planning efforts.

Taxes generally must be paid whenever there is an exchange of valuable property at the time of a person?s death. Payments are not owed to the government when certain types of financial vehicles are exchanged though. By taking advantage of these financial instruments and numerous other tactics, you can easily reduce the size of the payments your family will have to make to the government once they inherit your assets.

The type of assets being transferred for instance often comes with varying degrees of taxability. You can greatly reduce the amount of taxes that will be owed at the time of your death by maintaining the right type of financial assets while you are still alive. For instance, there are certain types of trusts you can place your money in to greatly reduce the amount of taxes your family will owe in the future.

The establishment of a will can also be used to greatly reduce the amount of taxes that will be owed as well. A will can provide your family and legal courts with guidance as to how you wish to have your assets dispersed. By outlining a clear will for legal courts and your family to follow once you are gone, your family will be able to avoid quarreling with each other in order to gain access to the assets and your financial worth will be dispersed in a manner that is more to your liking as a result.

Your will can be used to designate recipients that will not face heavy levies if your assets transfer into their possession too. Spouses for instance do not have to pay levies on the assets they inherit from those they are married to. This single step can help you protect your family from heavy levies to an impressive extent.

Another great method you can use to decrease the amount of taxes your family will have to pay is the method of gifting. You can gift numerous individuals $12,000 or less per year without being taxed. If you make these gifts to your family each year and your spouse does so as well, you can transfer a large portion of your liquid assets to your family to avoid paying estate taxes on that capital.

You can also establish a private annuity too. A private annuity will result in the transfer of your assets to the individuals you would like to inherit them. Then, they will simply make payments back to you throughout the life of the annuity to complete the transaction.

In the end, it really all comes down to planning. There are numerous techniques you can use to decrease the amount of estate tax your family will ultimately pay. By properly planning for the future, you can take advantage of every technique at your disposal.

Have you spent any time analyzing your family?s estate tax liability? You can ask for support from a professional like an estate law attorney or a CPA. To seek attorneys in your area who specialize in the area of estate law, you can use an attorney referral service like Lawyers.com.

Disney hopes Cars Land makes California Adventure a golden state

For more than a decade, Disney California Adventure Park has been putt-putting along in the slow lane, trailing its neighbor Disneyland in the race for big attendance numbers.

A new 12-acre expansion called Cars Land, set to be unveiled June 15, is the latest and by far biggest attempt to get the laggard theme park up to speed.

Based on the hit animated "Cars" movies made by Walt Disney Co.'s Pixar studio, Cars Land will include a racing convertible ride, square-dancing tractors and plenty of opportunities to buy themed merchandise.

It's the crowning effort of a $1.1-billion, multiyear attempt to turn California Adventure into a park where visitors will want to stay at least an entire day.

"I believe the completion will result in a park that will both stand on its own," Disney Chief Executive Robert A. Iger recently told financial analysts, "but also serve as an important and worthy neighbor to Disneyland."

The investment highlights the importance of theme parks as a powerful revenue engine for Disney. In the first three months of this year, parks and resorts generated nearly $2.9 billion, representing a 10% increase from the same period in 2011.

That strong performance helped Disney overcome a 12% drop in revenue from its movie studio division, which that quarter took a huge write-down from the disastrous "John Carter" flop.

Still, Disney's parks face aggressive competition in the race to create attendance-boosting attractions.

Universal Studios Hollywood last week opened a high-tech, 3-D ride ? estimated to cost $100 million ? based on the "Transformers" movies. Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia will debut a record 400-foot-tall drop-tower ride named for Superman's archenemy, Lex Luthor.

California Adventure has been an underperformer almost from the time it opened amid much hype in 2001. Visitors entered under a mock-up of the Golden Gate Bridge to the park that included a boardwalk-style roller coaster, river rafting ride and Ferris wheel, all themed to celebrate the culture and lifestyle of the Golden State.

What was missing, said many park guests as well as analysts, was Disney.

There was almost no trace of the studio's hallmark movie characters, such as Mickey, Goofy and Donald. And the high-tech wizardry that awed crowds at other Disney parks was mostly missing.

"The problem was that there was nothing iconic in that park," said Dennis Speigel, president of International Theme Park Services, a Cincinnati-based consultant to the industry. "Here is a company that knew how to build a spaceship but instead they built a Piper Cub" single-prop plane.

Over the years, attractions were added or adapted to Disney-fy the park more. One of the original rides, the Orange Stinger, was wrapped in a shell that looked like a giant orange. After a few years, the shell came off. The ride was redecorated with images of Mickey Mouse, and the name was changed to Silly Symphony Swings after an early Disney series of animated cartoons.

Two years ago, the park unveiled World of Color, an attraction that projects Disney movie scenes on hundreds of jets of water that shoot up from a man-made pool, highlighted by eruptions of fire.

Attendance still lagged. In 2010, California Adventure drew slightly more than 6 million visitors, while Disneyland welcomed about 17 million, according to estimates issued by the Themed Entertainment Assn. and the AECOM engineering and consulting firm. Disney does not release attendance figures.

To make matters worse, analysts said, many of those who visited California Adventure probably owned annual passes that gave them access to both parks. Disney had hoped visitors would spend a full day in each park and stay at a Disney hotel overnight. But pass holders such as Pam Wycliffe tend to visit California Adventure for only a few hours, diminishing the opportunities to sell them merchandise or food.

"I would only go for a handful of rides and then leave," said Wycliffe, a graphic designer from Novato, Calif.

Construction of the major overhaul and expansion of the park ? including Cars Land, a new entryway depicting 1920s Los Angeles and the already opened World of Color ? began in 2009.

Group pays viewers $1 to watch graphic animal video

SANTA ANA ? Activist group Farm Animal Rights Movement parked a van in Santa Ana on Saturday and paid $1 to any passers-by who agreed to watch a graphic, 4-minute video showing disturbing treatment of livestock at factory farms and slaughterhouses.

The pay-per-view van, equipped with eight viewing screens and 32 headphone sets, is on a national tour. It stops in busy public locations and offers people $1 to watch the video. After watching, viewers are encouraged to decrease consumption of animal products and work toward a vegan diet.

Jeni Haines, a UC Berkeley graduate, coordinates the anti-animal-cruelty video van for activist group Farm Animal Rights Movement.

BRIAN MARTINEZ, THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER

"As consumers, we have the right to know where our food comes from," said Jeni Haines, the FARM staffer who travels with, sleeps in and coordinates the locations of the tour van. "Animals in our food system are forced to live miserable lives, and the way they are raised is out of line with most people's values. Everyone should see this video."

The video may be watched at 10BillionLives.com, where one in 25 online viewers will win a pair of movie tickets.

Nearly 10 billion land animals are raised and killed every year in the United States, according to reports by the Department of Agriculture.

The video was collected from hidden-camera footage inside animal agriculture facilities. It depicts harsh cruelty, as well as standard and legal industry practices that are "shocking to most viewers," the group stated.

The van will eventually travel with the Warped Tour, a three-month music and extreme sports festival. The project is funded by donors, Haines said.

(AP) ? Tens of thousands of people thronged the streets of Georgia's capital on Sunday to show their opposition to President Mikhail Saakashvili, in the largest anti-government demonstration in three years.

The demonstration, which drew at least 40,000 people, was seen as a test of public support for the opposition ahead of a parliamentary election in October.

It also was a political coming-out party for organizer Bidzina Ivanishvili, a billionaire businessman who is Georgia's richest man and leading philanthropist. He made his entry into politics last October, announcing that he was forming a political party with the aim of winning the parliamentary vote and assuming the post of prime minister.

Saakashvili's second and last presidential term ends in January and his future plans are unclear. He has not excluded becoming prime minister, a position that will gain additional powers under a 2010 constitutional reform that his opponents said was designed to allow Saakashvili to remain a political force after leaving the presidency. But this would bring unwelcome comparisons to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who spent the past four years as prime minister to accommodate a constitutional ban on two consecutive presidential terms.

As the thousands of participants marched from three directions to join the rally on Freedom Square, they wrote their "dreams" on pieces of paper and stuffed them in sacks printed with the name of Ivanishvili's new party: Georgian Dreams.

"My dream has always been a strong and united Georgia, where people live freely and are paid what they are worth," Ivanishvili said to the crowd. "I waited for Georgia to become strong and united, but the transitional period after the gaining of independence dragged on and I decided to begin to fight this regime."

Georgia won its independence with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 and began moving closer to the West when Saakashvili became president in January 2004. He is credited with pushing through a series of political and economic reforms, but he also led the country into a disastrous war with Russia in 2008 over two breakaway Georgian republics now fully allied with Moscow and beyond Tbilisi's control.

Saakashvili weathered weeks of opposition demonstrations in 2009 demanding his resignation over his handling of the war, but the splintered opposition groups failed to coordinate and the protests fizzled out.

Ivanishvili has formed a coalition with some opposition parties but has refused to work with others, including the party led by veteran opposition leader Nino Burdzhanadze.

Sunday's rally was opened by Kakha Kaladze, the former captain of Georgia's national soccer team who played for nine seasons with Milan, and it ended with a performance by Ivanishvili's eldest son, Bera, a rap musician.

Fantasy Baseball: Buy-low players worth grabbing

Lisa Blumenfeld/Getty Images

Albert Pujols is starting to show signs of life after a woeful start to his career with the L.A. Angels.

A Series of Unfortunate Events. For those that don?t know, it?s a quite popular children?s book series that, frankly, I never liked. So popular, they made a movie starring Jim Carrey after the books? success. The premise is quite reflective of the title ? it circles around three siblings, who can?t catch a break. Not once. Nothing goes their way.

But as I said, I didn?t like the books. I only read a couple of them, but I distinctly remember having no desire to continue on with the series. It just seemed preposterous that everything could go wrong for them. I know it?s fiction and that?s the point ? but I?m too stubborn to believe that that can happen.

It?s not that an unfortunate event makes the next one more likely to be fortunate, but that each event has an equal chance of going either way, and for hundreds to break in a single direction is against all odds.

I feel the same way about baseball players and their fantasy prospects. It can?t all go wrong. And since the only stats we pursue in fantasy are those from this day forward, ignoring the short term past is often one of the best ways to predict the long term future. That is precisely why the following list are all buy-low players I am currently looking to snag. Without further ado, A Series of Unfortunate Players:

Albert Pujols, 1B

Why not start with the best of the best? His .232 BABIP doesn?t look the slightest bit legitimate against a .309 career average and a 21.3% line drive rate. Fools will say Pujols is old and washed up, but in reality, he?s a top-10 fantasy option with a top-20 price tag. Hitting three homers in his last four games through Friday doesn?t hurt, either.

Josh Johnson, SP

I refuse to give up on this one. Completely and utterly refuse. In his latest start as of this writing (5/20 at Cleveland) he displayed his highest average velocity yet. He has the third-highest difference between his ERA and FIP, and nothing suggests he should be giving up as many runs as he has.

Jemile Weeks, 2B

A preseason sleeper for quite a few, Weeks has quickly fallen out of favor with fantasy owners. His ownership has dropped substantially (56% ESPN, 50% Yahoo!) and yet his skills may be just the same. His .226 BABIP should be close to .300 based on his line drive/ground ball/fly ball rates, and perhaps higher given his speed (he has just two infield hits so far this season). He?s proven himself in the stolen base department (10 of 13) so I believe his stock should be exactly where it started ? as a second basemen ranked in the low to mid-teens.

Knicks give coach Mike Woodson multiyear extension

(AP) ? One playoff victory was good enough for Mike Woodson to return as New York Knicks coach ? even with Phil Jackson lurking as a potential candidate.

Woodson knows more will be asked of him now.

"I know expectations are high and they should be high," Woodson said during a conference call, "and I'm looking forward to the challenge."

The Knicks removed the interim tag Friday and announced they had given Woodson a multiyear contract extension, rewarding him for a terrific finish to what had been a turbulent season.

Woodson led the Knicks to an 18-6 record after replacing Mike D'Antoni on March 14. The Knicks lost 4-1 to Miami in the first round, snapping an NBA-record, 13-game postseason losing streak by winning Game 4 for their first victory since 2001.

Still, there was speculation that Madison Square Garden chairman James Dolan would open one of the league's biggest check books to go after Jackson, the 11-time champion coach and former Knicks player who sat out last season after retiring from the Los Angeles Lakers.

Yet the Knicks never looked anywhere beyond Woodson, believing they can continue to improve with a full season of his coaching.

"I think Woody earned the right to be the first person we talked to and turned out to be the only person we talked to because our discussions with him after the season really reflected why he was so successful during the season," general manager Glen Grunwald said.

"We thought he was the right guy for this team at this time. Obviously, there's some great coaches out there that had we opened up the search would have been called, mainly Phil Jackson, who's the most successful coach in the NBA history, but we felt Woody was our guy and he showed it during the season and our discussions after the season."

Woodson shrugged off the Jackson speculation.

"Tremendous coach, I know his name's been mentioned a lot, but that was not my concern," Woodson said. "My concern at the time was coaching the New York Knicks the period that I had to coach and Mr. Dolan decided to bring me back."

Neither the Knicks nor Woodson would disclose the terms of the deal.

A first-round draft pick of the Knicks in 1980, Woodson returned to the team last summer as an assistant coach, providing a defensive-minded voice to D'Antoni's staff. Woodson's influence, combined with Defensive Player of the Year Tyson Chandler, moved the Knicks into the top half of the league's defensive rankings after they had been one the worst teams for years.

D'Antoni resigned March 14 when the Knicks were 18-24 and in danger of missing the playoffs. Woodson won his first five games and was praised by players for holding them more accountable to playing defense. Most importantly, he got the most out of Carmelo Anthony, who was having a disappointing season in D'Antoni's offense but was April's Eastern Conference player of the month.

"Mike took over the team under challenging circumstances and made it clear, starting on day one, that he was going to hold every player on our roster accountable," Dolan said in a statement. "We saw a significant improvement since Mike took over and believe our team will only keep improving under Mike's direction."

Woodson denied recent reports that he had replaced agent Joe Glass under pressure from Dolan to avoid having to work again with former coach Larry Brown's representation. Woodson confirmed he switched to CAA, but said it was his choice, and that agent Terry Prince had worked on his contract.

Anthony, Chandler and fellow star Amare Stoudemire had all backed Woodson's return when the season ended. And his chances of improving returned when the Knicks removed the interim tag from Grunwald, his former college teammate at Indiana, late in the regular season.

Woodson previously spent six seasons as coach of the Atlanta Hawks, improving his win total in every season until they went 53-29 in 2009-10. But he wasn't retained after they were swept in the conference semifinals for the second straight year.

He then sat out a year before interviewing last summer for openings in Detroit ? where he was an assistant on the Pistons' NBA championship team in 2004 ? Minnesota and Houston. He then was hired by the Knicks on Aug. 29.

Woodson has a career 224-292 record as an NBA coach.

Brotherhood claims lead as Egypt vote count begins

CAIRO (AP) ? The Muslim Brotherhood quickly staked a claim Thursday for its candidate to advance to a runoff vote, saying its exit polls showed him leading in Egypt's landmark presidential election to succeed ousted leader Hosni Mubarak.

As vote-counting began, exit polls by several Arab television stations also suggested the Brotherhood's Mohammed Morsi was ahead of the pack of 13 candidates. The reliability of the various exit surveys was not known, and a few hours after the end of two days of voting, only a tiny percentage of the ballots had been counted.

But the swiftness of the Brotherhood's claim showed its eagerness to plant its flag and establish in the public eye that Morsi had at least won entry into a second round vote. There are five prominent candidates, but none is expected to win outright in the first round. A run-off between the two leading contenders would be held June 16-17.

The first truly competitive presidential election in Egypt's history turned into a heated battle between Islamist candidates and secular figures rooted in Mubarak's old regime. The most polarizing figures in the race were Morsi and former air force commander and former prime minister Ahmed Shafiq, a veteran of Mubarak's rule.

The Brotherhood is hoping for a presidential victory to seal its political domination of Egypt, which would be a dramatic turnaround from the decades it was repressed under Mubarak. It already holds nearly half of parliament after victories in elections late last year.

The group has promised a "renaissance" of Egypt, not only reforming Mubarak-era corruption and reviving decrepit infrastructure, but also bringing a greater degree of rule by Islamic law. That prospect has alarmed more moderate Muslims, secular Egyptians and the Christian minority, who all fear restrictions on civil rights and worry that the Brotherhood shows similar domineering tendencies as Mubarak.

"I think we are on the verge of a new era. We trusted God, we trusted in the people, we trusted in our party," prominent Brotherhood figure Essam el-Erian said at a news conference at which the group claimed its lead.

Morsi's campaign spokesman, Murad Mohammed Ali, cited exit polls conducted by Brotherhood campaign workers nationwide, though he declined to give percentages for Morsi's lead.

Regional television channels, citing their own exit polls, also placed Morsi as the top finisher, with a tussle for second place between Shafiq, moderate Islamist Abdel-Moneim Abolfotoh and leftist Hamdeen Sabahi.

Across the country, election workers cracked open the transparent ballot boxes ? sealed by serial-numbered plastic bands to ensure they had not been tampered with ? and began working their way through the paper ballots. By 1 a.m. Friday, four hours after polls closed, results from about 5 percent of the 13,000 polling stations emerged, putting Morsi on top at 35 percent, followed by Shafiq with 22 percent and Abolfotoh with 16 percent.

Voter turnout appeared far lighter on Thursday than the opening day of balloting Wednesday. But those in line where still revved up on the fervor of choosing after decades of having no voice in deciding their leader.

"I like the personality of Shafiq. He is strong enough to lift the country," said Suheir Abdel-Mumin, one of several women standing in line waiting to vote in the Cairo district of el-Zawiya al-Hamra.

Somaiya Imam, still undecided on whom to choose, replied with a reference to Islamist candidates, saying: "Don't you think we should vote for the candidate who holds the Quran?"

"We voted for them before and they let us down," Abdel-Mumin responded, referring to the Brotherhood's victories in last year's parliamentary elections. "They want everything ? the presidency, parliament and government. They are never satisfied."

A woman standing behind the two joined in: "But he (Shafiq) is a Mubarak associate."

The Brotherhood faced a backlash from many of the voters who supported it in the parliament election but later grew disillusioned. Some accused it of trying to overly monopolize power and breaking earlier promises not to run for president. Others felt it simply had not produced any accomplishments with its parliament dominance ? though the ruling military has severely hampered the parliament.

Still, Morsi enjoyed the might of the Brotherhood's well-organized electoral machine, the nation's strongest.

"We need a president who gets rid of the former corrupt and oppressive system and brings Egypt back to the position it deserves economically and internationally," said Rizk Mohammed, a contractor voting with his family in Cairo ? all for Morsi. He defended the Brotherhood against claims it was trying to monopolize all power, saying pro-Mubarak media were fomenting that idea.

Also, the anti-Islamist vote was divided. Shafiq and former foreign minister Amr Moussa and Shafiq split the votes of many who craved a familiar face that could bring stability. Sabahi, as well as Abolfotoh, siphoned votes of those who could not bear to vote for a "feloul" ? or "remnant" of the old regime ? or a hard-core Islamist.

Moussa, who had been leading in many pre-election polls, appeared to have suffered the most.

During the day Thursday, he blasted Shafiq in an interview on Al-Arabiya television, accusing him of planning to bring back Mubarak's regime and demanding he quit the race.

"The Shafiq campaign is calling for the re-creation of the past and it will take the country back to the time before the revolution," Moussa said, looking rattled with his hair unkempt.

He also made a last-minute appearance to reporters outside his Cairo campaign headquarters with a plea for supporters to vote ? a suggestion his own exit polling showed him faltering.

"I call on all Egyptians, male and female, to go out in these last two hours and vote," he said.

Both Shafiq and the Brotherhood's Morsi have repeatedly spoken of the dangers, real or imaginary, of the other becoming president. Morsi has said there would be massive street protests if a "feloul" wins, arguing it could only be the result of rigging.

Shafiq, on his part, has said it would be "unacceptable" if an Islamist takes the presidential office, echoing the rhetoric of Mubarak, his longtime mentor who devoted much of his 29-year rule to fighting Islamists. Still, Shafiq's campaign has said it would accept the election's result.

Reports of voting violations seemed relatively limited. The Egyptian Association for Supporting Democratic Development reported fistfights between supporters of Morsi, Shafiq, Abolfotoh and Moussa, and some incidents of money being given to voters. It also reported some attempts to influence voters at the polls, including women wearing the all-covering veil campaigning for Morsi inside polling centers.

Giveaway: #WIN a Fun @KraftFoods Backyard #Party Pack | Blogfully

I cannot believe it. Tomorrow is not only CJ?s 19th birthday, it?s also the last day of school for the girls. They go in for half a day tomorrow ? to partay ? and they?ll be home before noon. It?s insane, to think of how fast time has passed.

We have lots to do this summer; Bar-B-Qs, family visits, beach days and travel trips are just a few things that come to mind. We even have a sweet little Memorial Day Weekend planned for the kids ? to start their vacation ? that involves packing a lunch, cold drinks and sunscreen. It?s going to be fun. I just know it.

Kraft sent me a backyard party pack filled with some really great product, which I plan on using all summer long. Take a look?

Review Product 006

In this Party Pack:

Kool-Aid New unsweetened Peach Mango and Unsweetened Strawberry Kiwi drink mixes: I haven?t tried any of them yet but I?m a huge fan to Kool-Aid and don?t think I?ve ever tasted a flavor I didn?t like. Seriously. Have you?

New COUNTRY TIME Half & Half Lemonade Drink Mix: Talk about a treat for me. You guys already know I?m a tea drinking fanatic. I love Lemonade too. That said?both Country Time Lemonade and Tea together was genius. It tastes awesome and makes for a great summer-time thirst quencher (served in your awesome new Rubbermaid Carafe)!

VELVEETA Slices Queso Blanco: I went to my grocery store and they?re not carrying the new Queso Blanco (white cheese) yet, but I was able to pick up the next best thing ? Velveeta sliced cheese?this will be gone by this weekend. I can never keep the kids away from cheese, especially when it comes to Velveeta!

KRAFT SIZZLING SALADS Southwest Chicken Dinner Kit: This will be used tonight for dinner because I simply can?t wait for a better time to try it. All you need to do is mix your salad with the dressing and marinade your chicken (and cook it) with the seasoning mix. It?s that easy and can be accomplished in less than 20 minutes! We eat chicken every day and we love salads too so this is going to be an awesome dinner tonight (served in my new CHILL Salad Bowl and Salad Servers)!!!

Last but not least, this Party Pack includes?

Honey Maid Lil? Squares Honey Grahams: These bite-sized versions of the original graham crackers are too cute?and they pack a powerful punch of flavor! And a cool Colorwheel Serving Tray to serve them with!

I?ll tell you what?this summer?s going to be pretty sweet. We can hardly wait!
